How do you live forever? On January 20th 2026 Arthur (Bucky) Wells Jr. passed away peacefully at 86 years old. If you were a guest at Wells Lakeside Cottages you may know Bucky as the guy mowing the lawn while you were staying on your week-long vacation at the resort. You may also know him as the guy who would help you with the boat that you rented right before you went out on Castle Rock Lake. Maybe he was the guy who came up to your cottage to see what was wrong if you had a problem during your stay. He & his family were the owners and one thing you may not know is, everything that was put on Wells Lakeside property was done by Bucky and his father Arthur Wells Sr. (even the trees) If you lived in the area you may have bought a Christmas tree from Bucky or maybe he did your taxes. As a member of the Mauston Volunteer Fire Department and Assistant Chief for 45 years you may have met Bucky in times of need. He was a Mauston High School and UW Madison graduate. He was an Outdoorsman, handyman, storyteller when he was with the right people and a man of character. We will miss him as a husband, father and friend. The question asked in the beginning was how do you live forever? The answer is, you have the character, stories and personality that others will take with them in their lives therefore making you a part of them. Thank you to everyone who has offered their sympathies prayers and condolences. Please remember Bucky not with a frown for his passing but with a smile remembering one thing he may have left you in your life. Obituary / Crandall Funeral Home
